"The Lovers"

Happy Valentines Day to all!  I thought it might be appropriate for the occasion to show you my take on the lovely Picasso painting "The Lovers".

This painting was done during his Neo-Classical period.  It has been one of my very favorites for some time, and when Maria wanted our class to put ourselves "into" a famous painting, this one came to mind.  The girl is draped with my striped serape, rather than Picasso's green wrap.  This was very fun and satisfying to do.  The exercise of paying very close attention to each line and color on the master's painting and trying to emulate it has been valuable, too.  Somehow, I feel "closer" to Pablo now!

I really liked this one. Love the vibrant colors and loose lines you used. I also like the stripes that make this your own.

Thanks, Maria and Marcia. This was fun to do and eerie when I realized I was making some of the same lines and painting the same way Picasso might have done!
