I love using recycled silk in my sculptures, art quilts, and other mixed media pieces.  The inspiration for this piece was the iconic lone tree on the bluff overlooking the ocean at Pebble Beach golf course in California.  I preferred to render it as an Eastern deciduous tree, however!  While I often use stitching, either simple joinery or more elaborate embroidery, this silk was applied with adhesive in order to meld smoothly with the paper face of the piece.
